As the only not-for-profit electric cooperative in Texas, NEC Co-op Energy knows what it’s like to depend on the good people around us to succeed. We simply cannot do what we do without our neighbors, and we want to make sure everyone in our area is empowered to grow, lead and thrive, too.

Here are just a few ways we help give back.

Direct sponsorships. We’ve been providing electricity since 1938. One thing that hasn’t changed in that time is our commitment to organizations that empower communities. We’re proud to support Buc Days, Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Bend and Downtown Management District—just to name a few. And recently, we partnered with the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce to offer grants for local businesses dealing with the challenges of the pandemic.

Youth outreach. The best way to ensure great neighbors tomorrow? Support our young neighbors today. Like through the NEC Scholarship Program, which uses unclaimed NEC capital credits to provide scholarships to graduating seniors—or the Government-in-Action Youth Leadership Tour, which lets four attendees a year get a firsthand look at how our government works in Washington, D.C.

We make it easy for members to give back, too. We’re proud to say our members also love helping out. Member-to-Member Assistance lets you automatically donate $1 on each electricity bill to help members in need pay their electricity bills. And if you opt into Operation Round-Up, your bill is rounded up to the nearest dollar and the difference is donated to Nueces Electric Charities, Inc. which proudly supports a variety of area programs.
