No hidden fees. Just dependable service.

Power sources are a large cost for any energy provider. But lucky for us, we have long-term power purchase agreements with dependable, co-op owned power plants.

We, along with seven distribution cooperatives, own a generation system called South Texas Electric Cooperative (STEC). Approximately 87% of the annual electricity purchased by NEC Co-op Energy comes from one of the STEC power plants.

In the utility industry, STEC is considered a “Generation & Transmission facility” and utilizes distribution systems such as AEP, Centerpoint, Oncor, Texas New Mexico Power, and Nueces Electric Cooperative power lines to deliver power to our members. A portion of our electricity rate includes distribution charges which are used to maintain and service the power lines.
