COVID-19 Electricity Relief Program

NEC Co-op Energy members living on AEP, TNMP, Oncor & CenterPoint power lines who are in need of electric bill assistance due to COVID-19, can apply for the COVID-19 Electricity Relief Program here.

STATE OF TEXAS COVID-19 Relief Program

A new state program is helping eligible Texans keep their power on for the next six months. Eligible residents include those who receive assistance through programs like SNAP or Medicaid or who have filed for unemployment with the Texas Workforce Commission. If you have recently filed for unemployment, call the Texas Lifeline at 866-454-8387 to apply. If you are on SNAP or Medicaid, you’re automatically enrolled and do not need to call.

The state of Texas has partnered with SOLIX to process all relief fund applications through The Texas Lifeline. You may experience long call wait times as agents work to serve all Texans in need of assistance. For more information, please see FAQs below.

Texas Rent & Electric Bill Relief Program 
he Texas Rent Relief Program provides rental and utility assistance to qualifying applicants to prevent housing instability, potential eviction, and financial hardships for tenants and landlords as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CARES Act

The programs and initiatives in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security(CARES) Act that was just passed by Congress are intended to assist business owners with whatever needs they have right now. When implemented, there will be many new resources available for small businesses, as well as certain nonprofits and other employers.

Families First Coronavirus Response Act

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act is an Act of Congress meant to respond to the economic impacts of the ongoing 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. The act will provide funding for free coronavirus testing, 14-day paid leave for American workers affected by the pandemic, and increased funding for food stamps. This act is primarily target towards employers to help assist with employee coronavirus resources.

Who qualifies and how do I apply?

If you receive assistance through SNAP or Medicaid, you’re automatically enrolled. If you’ve filed for unemployment with the Texas Workforce Commission, you also qualify. To apply, call The Texas Lifeline at 866-454-8387.

What information will I need to provide when I call?

You’ll need to provide the information that matches your NEC Co-op Energy account, including name and address. It may also be helpful to have the following:

  • Account number
  • Last four digits of your social security number
  • Phone number

What information will I need to provide after I call?

You’ll need to send a copy of your acceptance from the Texas Workforce Commission and a copy of your electricity bill within 30 days of calling. You can send this via email or mail.
