On January 9th, 2024, Nueces Electric Cooperative had the privilege of presenting a grant from Nueces Electric Charities, Inc. to The Junior League of Corpus Christi and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Texas Coastal Bend. This grant is made possible through our Operation Round Up Program, wherein our members voluntarily round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar. Members are not charged more than .99 cents per account each month. We extend our sincere gratitude to our members for their generous support of local charities and non-profit organizations.

Big Brothers Big Sisters, a mentoring organization made up of volunteers, connects and collaborates with school counselors to identify children who would benefit from the guidance of a “big brother” or “big sister.” A case manager, often referred to as a “match maker,” assesses each selected child and thoughtfully pairs them with a big brother or sister. These mentors connect with the children both inside and outside of school, cultivating a relationship aimed at guiding them towards a more constructive and proactive lifestyle.
